A Moment In The History Of Mitchell Electronics
In the early 1950’s in our history, George Horwitz had a vision. Always intrigued by electronics and transformers, he knew he could use this passion to create a unique company, founded on the principle that every customer, every supplier, and every employee is part of his family, and should be treated as such.
George’s hands-on approach and dedication to his customers is evident in one of his favorite stories in which engineers designing one of the original television sets had a big problem. The test picture on the screen was completely backwards, and the engineer could not figure out why. George flew to the factory to check it out.
He immediately found the problem – the two transformer lead wires were reversed. George reached in, reversed the wires, and the test picture faced the proper direction. The engineers were stunned – and mortified – to which George replied, “don’t be – that’s what I’m here for.”
For Three Generations
Over the years, George saw many developments in transformers and the areas in which they are used. He continued the family philosophy that was around when he started the company, through the management and operation of three generations at Mitchell Electronics.
